Hello and welcome to Hazel Class!
The adults in our class are: Miss Kelly
If you have a question or concern please feel free to come and speak to a member of staff at the beginning or end of the day.
PE will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please make sure your child has a named PE kit in school. We will try to go outside when the weather is dry so please include a pair jogging bottoms or leggings.
Show and Tell will be on Monday (when we do not have forest schools, Tuesday when we do). We know the children are keen to share their experiences with us but please try to limit the days they bring in things to share to Mondays. Thank you!
Forest School happens fortnightly in KS1, Hazel Class will have their first session on Monday 18th September. Your child will need a warm change of clothes (layers are good) that you don't mind getting muddy, a pair of wellies or old trainers, a waterproof coat and a spare bag for dirty boots, all of which needs to be in a bag on your child's peg.
Your child should be reading daily to an adult, this needs to be in school everyday. Please ensure you sign the green reading record book when you have heard your child read. If your child reads their library book, a book of their own, listens to a story tape/CD or any kind of reading related activity, please also note it in their green reading record book. Remember all children who read four times or more in a week will be a star reader. If your child is a star reader consecutively over a half term they will take part in a celebration!
Library - Thursday
Homework is given out on a Friday in a folder, it needs to be completed by the following Thursday at the latest, returned in the folder and placed in the tray by the door.
Other the last two weeks the children have been fantastic at learning about spiders, they have written some lovely stories and used some good descriptive language to describe their characters and the setting. Last week we have learnt lots of facts about spiders and this has been helped by their homework - so thank you! We were astounded by how much they could remember, did you know if one legs falls off they can grow another one or they have 48 knees?
This week we are moving on to look at owls and thinking about other nocturnal animals. We will use Owl Babies as a stimulus but will once again focus on non-fiction writing about facts. They will research information on owls and use this to help aid their writing while also getting busy making owls using a variety of resources.
In maths we will be looking at fractions to help further their understanding of finding halves and then quarters.
PE will be on Tuesday afternoons this half term. We will be taking part in sessions with Stevenage football club, this might be outside so children will need suitable outdoor PE kits and trainers/ plimsolls.
