Ahoy Me Hearties!

*frown*STAR READER OF THE WEEK *frown*

This week our star reader is.....

Tuesday is Elm Class library day.

Please bring your library book in on Tuesday if you want to change it.

Reading record books and the reading book should be

placed in the wicker basket every morning.

Please try to read with your child every night.

The children that  read regularly at home

tend to make better progress with their reading.

If you have read with your child you are welcome to change the book, please check in the back of their reading record book to see which colour book you should chose. You may, if you wish, keep a book for a few days to let the children become familiar with the story and give them more confidence.

Thank you.

What we are learning.

This half term our topic is 'Water'

Week beginning 18th July 2016

It's our final week of term this week and we will be doing lots of fun things to celebrate a fantastic year in Elm Class.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for your support during your child's time in Reception. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and your children!

Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school. It is especially important in the hot weather that they have unlimited access to water. Thank you.

If you have any questions please ask any member of staff.

Thank you.

Continue to bring in the new WOW slips this week for your child to go up on the display.

The summer weather has begun - hooray! So could you please make sure children have sun hats and sun cream applied on those sunny days, thank you.

End of year picnic

We used our designs to make clay bridges

Thank you to Wilshere Dacre who came over to Strathmore for maths week. In Reception the children got into teams and were given a number of challenges outdoors to build bridges between different obstacles. Inside the teams had to build a bridge that could support a weight. Have a look at what we got up to!

We are looking for resources like wooden blocks, large pebbles, bricks, baskets for storage... Or if you think you may have something that will be of use please mention it to a member of staff. Thank you for your continued support.

The Mystery of Missing Timmy

Timmy our class bear went missing while on holiday with Mrs Makwaya. All week we have been using clues to help us to work out where he is and what might have happened to him. Take a look and see if you can guess where he may have been!

We thought it would be nice to write back to Timmy. To ask a question about his whereabouts and to fill him in on our Spring holidays.
