Year 1 Hazel

It’s the last week of term and we still have a few Christmas treats and activities planned.  On Tuesday afternoon it is the Hazel class party.  If your child would like to, they can bring a bag of party clothes, which they will be able to change into the afternoon.  They need to come to school in their uniform in the morning.

Hello and welcome to the Autumn term, our topics this term are On The Move and Festivals and Lights; more information will follow on the curriculum newsletter.

PE -  Your child will need their PE kit in a named bag hanging on their peg; this should be in school everyday.  We try to go outside when the weather is dry, so as well as a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, your child will also need a pair of jogging bottoms or leggings; they will need plimsolls or trainers to run around in.  PE sessions for this half term will usually be on a Monday and a Thursday.

Forest School happens fortnightly in KS1, usually on a Thursday afternoon (this does change sometimes.)  Our sessions this term will be on September 24th, October 8th and 22nd, November 12th and 26th and December 10th.  Your child will need a warm change of clothes (layers are good) that you don't mind getting muddy, a pair of wellies or old trainers, a waterproof coat and a spare bag for dirty boots, all of which needs to be in a bag on your child's peg.

Your child should be reading daily to an adult, their reading book needs to be in school everyday and kept in their bookbags.  Reading books will be changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only; we won't be sending reading record books home initially.

Homework is given out on a Thursday in a folder, it needs to be completed by the following Monday if you would like it to be marked.  There is yellow tray in the classroom for your child to put it in.

If you have any questions let us know.

Christmas Art Project

The children have been busy making Christmas pictures in school this week. The idea is that this artwork can be turned into Christmas cards. As we can't send the artwork home for you to look at I have added a sample of the cards that every child in the class has produced. Over the weekend have a look at the artwork and decide if you would like to make an order.

Your child will be bringing home a leaflet today with a unique code on the back. If you would like to order some Christmas cards then please go to where you will be asked to input the unique code and personalise your orders.

If you have placed an order, then please bring this leaflet back to school on *Monday 16th November* so that we can submit the original artwork to be scanned. Only the leaflets returned on Monday will be submitted.

The completed Christmas cards will arrive at the beginning of December.
