Our learning this week

This week we will be looking at inventors. We will discuss what makes a good inventor, and then designing and writing about our own designs! The class will be focussing on using full stops and capital letters, as well as finger spaces. On Friday we will have our Transport day, which will help us consolidate the learning from the topic. It will end with a special treat!

In Maths we will be learning about fact families. We will be looking at number bonds to 10, and also investigating whether there are different ways to make the same number. The children will also be concentrating on their number formation, and revisiting how to write the names of numbers.

In phonics we will be learning:  ear, air, ure and they

Hello and welcome to the Autumn term! Our topics this term are On The Move and Festivals and Lights; more information will follow on the curriculum newsletter.

Our PE days are Monday and Friday. Your child will need their PE kit in a named bag hanging on their peg- this should be in school every day. When the weather is dry we try to go outside, and so your child will need a pair of jogging bottoms or leggings, plimsolls or trainers and a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

Forest School happens fortnightly in KS1, and in Maple class we go out on a wednesday afternoon (this may sometimes change.) You can find all of our Forest School dates under the Key Dates heading. Your child will need a warm change of clothes (layers are good) that you don't mind getting muddy, a pair of wellies or old trainers, a waterproof coat and a spare bag for dirty boots. This can all be kept in a bag on your child's peg.

Your child should be reading daily to an adult and their reading book needs to be in school every day.

Homework is given out on a Friday in a folder, it needs to be completed by the following Thursday at the latest, returned in the folder and placed in the homework tray. If you have any questions please let us know.
