Our Vision, Motto and School Development Plan

We developed our school vision with pupils, staff, parents and governors. It was important for us to consider well-being as a priority and celebrating what makes us unique at Strathmore.

Priority One:
To continue to develop leadership across the school.
Priority Two:
To review our curriculum ensuring that it continues to fully address needs of all pupils and shows clear progression.
Priority Three:
To embed our writing curriculum and improve progress and attainment over time to be more in line with reading.
  • Leadership – for staffing: This may include student teachers, external qualifications, CPD opportunities, middle leadership, focussed studies.
  • Ensure clear handover and establish senior leadership team with new SENCo and deputy.
  • Support staff training – interventions, medical, moving learning on, quality interactions.
  • Leadership of pupils: establish and sustain school council and eco council. Pupils feel they have a voice.
  • Embedding new governor strategy.
  • Ensure the preservation of subject integrity through a clear progression of core concepts and subject knowledge.
  • Ensure assessments are accurate and purposeful in all subjects, developing a strong evidence base.
  • Adapting our current curriculum, to ensure they support our school vision and values.
  • Ensure staff have the skills required to support all pupils with behaviour and those with SEND by improving high quality first teaching.
  • Taking part in NCETM Maths fluency programme on mastering number.
  • Further embed vocabulary and retrieval across the curriculum.
  • To further embed our high quality delivery of a consistent, progressive writing curriculum. Ensuring key focus on spelling, punctuation and feedback and marking in the moment.
  • To further develop reading for pleasure across the school.
  • Adapt our phonics programme to better meet the needs of all our pupils and ensure teaching time is effective and purposeful.
  • Continue to create a resource base for our writing and reading curriculum with quality, diverse and varied texts.

We take pride in teaching our pupils to understand the meaning of vocabulary and this includes understanding what our school motto means for them. Please see a PowerPoint that we have shared with our pupils on how we ensure our motto, Nurturing Brilliant, Resilient Minds, is embedded into our daily lives.
