BPTAA

We achieved our Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award (BPTAA) in 2022 and successfully achieved reaccreditation in January 2026. This award provides a framework for the strategic management of teaching assistants and boosts their impact on positive pupil outcomes.

The BPTAA award recognises the valued role of our teaching assistants at Strathmore and clearly commends the excellent work that they do.  Within the accreditation visit, the BPTAA advisor reviewed a portfolio of evidence sharing the expertise of our staff, the training that they receive and the impact of the many roles employed by our support staff.  To prepare for the visit, our working group of Mrs Sandhu, Mrs King, Mrs Nellis and Miss Dainton did an excellent job of preparing the portfolio of evidence, self-evaluating the school and suggesting further improvement in our routines at school.

We are extremely proud of the wonderful TA's we have at Strathmore and want to acknowledge the important role that they play within the school.

Within our final report, the BPTAA consultant wrote 'The day to day running of Strathmore is clearly enhanced and improved by its highly trained, professional group of Teaching Assistants. Through training and support, the team feel confident in their abilities. They are able to take on teaching programmes and interventions with both groups and classes, use developed strategies to regulate SEND children, and plan and implement wrap around care. There has been a reduction in lunchtime incidents due to well managed behaviour and productive play, raised phonics results and reduced learned dependence. In addition, staff have enhanced ownership of their roles and have become more solution focused during meetings and appraisals, showing a developed culture of reflection and improvement.'
