Weekly Newsletter 7
We are so proud of all the fantastic learning the children have completed this term. We have seen children grow in resilience and independence in their friendships and learning.
Announcements:
Geography local walk: Friday 14th November 2025. A letter would have come out this week.
Science: Please could every child bring a 4 litre milk carton in for a science activity.
Nativity: We are starting to organise the school nativity and we will start to practice songs and lines next half term.
English
This week we created a bank of vocabulary to name and describe a variety of objects of different colours. We combined these words to create a list poem and had a go at reading, rehearsing and performing our poems to the class.
Maths
In Maths, we practiced adding pairs of numbers to make 10. Children also explored how they can break down 10 into smaller parts to discover as many ways as possible that the whole can be partitioned. We are helping children build up fluency in their number bonds which helps children to build a deeper understanding of how numbers work.
Phonics
This week, we reviewed and rehearsed words ending in plurals and words containing adjacent consonants. Some of the words we read included -misses, dresses, squelch, screech and drench.
Topic
In DT, we designed our bunting flag and added symbols which represent the things we like. We are really excited to begin to make our bunting flags using the running stitch. The children also had a wonderful time watching the play ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and have loved the autumnal day today. Some activities included going on an autumn nature walk, making a leaf person, scooping out the seeds from a pumpkin and eating apple crumble!
