English
This week we read our new book ‘Gruffalo Crumble and other recipes’. We looked at different recipes in the book and how they were laid out. We thought about what we would need to make a ‘Terrible Tusks’ recipe and the fruits we would need to chop and cut. For optional home- learning we would like the children to have a go at making their very own Gruffalo tusks using lots of different kinds of fruit. We have sent home a copy of the recipe. Please send in photos or a drawing of your recipe.
Maths
In Maths, we tried hard to read and understand addition word problems. The children also thought of their own word problems and shared with their partner. The children are enjoying playing maths games to develop their reasoning and fluency.
Phonics
This week, we learnt new phase 5 graphemes- ir, ie, ue and u. We practised reading new words with word cards showing the sound button side. We had fun reading the tricky words this week which are- their, people, oh and your.
Topic
In DT, we made our bunting flag out of felt and tried hard to use the running stitch. In Geography, we looked at different Hitchin maps and identified the roads, parks and schools. We are excited about visiting the different landmarks next Friday!
