Reception have been true superstars in the heat this week, remembering how to keep themselves as safe and as cool as possible both in the classroom and when outside. We've had lots of lovely water play and joined nursery in their garden in the afternoons as they have lots of shade and breeze.
Year 1 classes have gone out today, and we'll be discussing the transition during our PSHE lessons over the next few weeks. The children will have opportunities to look back on and celebrate their brilliant year in Reception, as well as talk about their feelings towards this exciting move.

Maths -
We have enjoyed looking at 2D shapes this week, identifying different shapes and talking about their properties. We understand that 2D means two-dimensional, and the dimensions of a 2D shape are length and width.
Some shape activities we have completed:
- Using shapes to make pictures
- Guessing what shape is in the bag by listening to a description
- Describing shapes to our peers
Topic -
We have enjoyed looking at homes from around the world this week. We used a non-fiction book to look at how homes are made and how they look, and compared this to our homes here in the UK. We were able to see and talk about the differences, again, using excellent descriptive language. The challenge this week has been to draw and write about our homes.

Please can a stamp be brought in over the next few weeks so we can send a letter home.
Join us in the Reception garden on Friday 17th July to taste pasta with our homemade pasta sauce.
